Reconnect With Your Body: Gentle Self-Care Tips

Time to look after yourself…

You know that feeling when life finally slows down—work eases, the calendar clears a little, and suddenly you stop, breathe… and realise you’ve barely been in your body the whole time? Perhaps you feel like you have been looking in…

Yep. Been there too.

When things get full (and let’s be honest—they often do), our bodies can take a back seat. We push through, power on, and somehow ignore the subtle whispers asking us to slow down, stretch, breathe, nourish.

But once the rush passes, there’s a beautiful opportunity waiting. A moment to say:
“Okay, I’m back. Let’s reconnect.”

Here are some gentle, soul-loving ways to do just that.

💛 1. Start With Stillness
Being still can feel awkward at first when you’ve been in “go mode” for weeks. But even just a few moments of quiet can shift everything.

Sit or lie down, close your eyes, and simply notice.
Where is there tension? Where feels heavy or tired?
What’s your breath doing?

You don’t need to fix anything. Just become the observer. Your body will soften the moment it feels you are listening.

💆‍♀️ 2. Book in Some Nurturing Bodywork
Massage is one of the fastest ways to reconnect with your body—because it bypasses your busy brain and speaks straight to your nervous system. Ah… the listening takes place!

Whether it’s remedial massage, raindrop, or lymphatic drainage, I always say this:
“Find the place where your body can relax, feel nurtured and calm.”

Even one session can help you return to yourself.

🧘‍♀️ 3. Move in a Way That Feels Good
Not to burn calories. Not to ‘make up’ for anything. Just to feel.
Stretch. Walk. Dance. Whatever works for you. Simply lie on the floor and roll your hips around.
Get curious about how your body wants to move.

Movement can be amazing—not a punishment. Let it be playful. calming, grounding.

🌿 4. Nourish With Intention
When we slow down, our bodies often crave grounding, nourishing food—but instead of rushing into a “reset,” ask:
What would feel supportive right now?

Maybe it’s warm veggie soups, herbal tea, or simply hydrating (lymphatic drainage is great for this). Maybe it’s less coffee and more oils.
Let food be medicine, not something that you feel bound by rules to.

💬 5. Talk to Your Body (Yes, Really! You can do it!!)
This one might feel a little woowoo—but believe me, it’s powerful.
Your body has been working hard. Through stress, schedules, timeframes, late nights… and it hasn’t let go of you.

Try saying:
Thank you…

I’m listening to what you need…

What is it you need today!?

You’d be surprised at the clarity you get what you ask and listen.

Reconnection Is a Practice
Reconnecting to your body isn’t a one-time thing. It’s a relationship you tend to gently. Without rush. No pressure. Just a soft return to self care.

So if you’re coming out of a full season feeling scattered or disconnected—be kind to yourself. You’re not behind. You’re human.
And your body? It knows what you need- perhaps time to listen to it.

Blessings,
Larissa x
